San Diego -- La Jolla

Monday was a fabulous day and we all burnt ourselves to a crisp at La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores.

First we went to the Cove to see the Sea Lions. We loved watching them swim so gracefully, and then trying to lug their bodies up onto the rocks. Occasionally they would get territorial and fight for a spot in the sun, which eventually ended up in both animals falling into the water. Once when that happened Sammy laughed so loud that all the sea lions rushed into the water for fear of attack.

At the Cove we love the tide pools. My kids' favorite thing is putting their fingers in the sea anemones and feeling them close around them. We also loved looking for crabs of all sizes.

Checking out the Pacific. So gorgeous!

The plan was to go to the Cove and look at thing, and then go to the Shores to swim, but my family found a small patch of sand and couldn't help themselves. It was trashy, but since we only see ocean ever few years, ,they ripped off their shirts and jumped in anyway. We played without sunscreen, sand toys, or towels until we were too hungry to play any more.

After lunch we went to La Jolla shores for the rest of the afternoon. We buried all the kids in the sand (except Sammy) and had fun playing in the water. The weather wasn't all that warm, but we didn't care. The Sand was warm and the sun was shining and that was all we cared about.
Proof I was there! I'm usually the one taking the pictures.
